May 27th, 2021 - Calgary Alliance Applauds ENMAX for Net-Zero by 2050 Commitment

Calgary Alliance for the Common Good applauds ENMAX's recently released Environmental, Social, and Governance Report.

Calgary, AB - ENMAX, as part of its released Environmental, Social, and Governance Report, shared today that it will be going Net-Zero by 2050.

As a solutions-driven and future-oriented essential electricity service provider, ENMAX aims to actively contribute to a cleaner energy future by committing to achieving net-zero scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions by 2050.

This is an important step by the city in meeting our shared responsibility and do our part in addressing climate change. The adoption of the goal means a change to how the utility runs its companies, the creation of new opportunities for Calgarians and moving forward on climate change in our city.

The Calgary Alliance, and its 31 member organizations, have been advocating for this change and are proud that this city-owned utility will be taking a leadership role in moving forward on taking action on climate action.

Specifically, the work of the Calgary Climate Hub on this project has been exemplary and their leadership has been indispensable in advocating for this change in policy by the utility.
