Mental Health First Aid (Basic) is intended for adults interacting with adults (18 years and older). This course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance-related, mood-related, anxiety and trauma-related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces.
The course focuses on 1) mental health and stigma, 2) signs and symptoms, 3) effective intervention, and 3) resources and supports.
Participants will receive a certificate in mental health first aid at the end of the course and they are required to attend all three sessions.
The sessions are:
- Friday, May 13th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm
- Saturday, May 14th from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
- Sunday, May 15th from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Due to a grant from Alberta Health Services, we have been able to reduce the cost of the ticket for the event to $60. This ticket covers tuition, materials and meals. Bursaries are available for people with a low income. Please note, you will need to be double vaccinated and able to show proof of vaccination to attend. During the session, participants will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing as much as possible.
