You’re Invited: Mayoral Forum with Calgary Alliance
for the Common Good and ActionDignity
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Alliance for the Common Good and ActionDignity have come together with more than 130 member organizations: institutions like universities, colleges, labour organizations, faith communities, ethnocultural associations and the non-profit sector to host a mayoral forum.
As Calgary begins to decide its next mayor, we are likely selecting new leadership that will guide our city for the next decade. Picking this person is of massive importance, not only to the organizations hosting this event, but every single Calgarian.
- The four candidates selected have confirmed their attendance.
- They are Jan Damery, Jeff Davison, Jeromy Farkas and Jyoti Gondek. These candidates were decided on based on publicly available polling and reviewing the candidate list by our various institutional leaders. Learn more about the discernment process by which candidates were invited on our campaign page, along with our other efforts related to this 2021 election, at https://www.calgarycommongood.org/2021_municipal
- We currently have over 900 RSVPs for the Zoom webinar (as of September 26th).
If you wish to promote the event with your publication, please share the link to RSVP rather than the above Zoom information. The RSVP page can be found at https://www.calgarycommongood.org/forum.
QUOTES:
"Calgary is deciding the direction that it will take for the next four years. The leadership of this city will be critical, particularly with the four-year budget up for discussion in 2022. The elected city officials will oversee the next half-decade of policy. That has an impact not only on the communities that ActionDignity represents but all Calgarians. So citizens of our city should take note, show up and participate in this election."
Wengel Kebede, Forum Moderator
ActionDignity
“Our municipal election shapes the quality of life for every Calgarian from the sidewalks our kids walk on to the water we drink. We are likely selecting who will lead our city for the next decade. We invite Calgarians to attend this forum hosted by our team at Calgary Alliance for the Common Good alongside ActionDignity. This election is too important for Calgarians to sit on the sidelines. There is so much work to be done: on truth and reconciliation, equity, climate change, and keeping Calgary strong through this pandemic.”
Dr. Beth Stovell, Professor and Chair of General Theological Studies, Ambrose University, Co-Chair for Truth and Reconciliation and Forum Moderator, Calgary Alliance for the Common Good
"Our communities are at a point at which they are facing major challenges and transitions. A part of our work as the Calgary Alliance is listening to our communities. People are also worried about the divisions that they see growing in their families, their communities and in this province. Who can bring us together and not drive deeper divisions?"
