CBE cuts transit rebate program as it deals with provincial budget cuts
In late December, the Calgary Board of Education cut its rebate program due to provincial budget cuts. Our board chair, The Rev. Anna Greenwood-Lee raised the alarm and drew attention to the issue via Twitter and to the greater public. Please read the article here.
Rev. Anna Greenwood-Lee, spokesperson for Calgary Alliance for the Common Good and parent of school-aged kids, received the email and expressed her concerns via Twitter.
CBE just emailed that because of provincial cuts the transit rebate program has been cancelled and referring families to city's fair entry program. This means a lot of families will pay $77 a month per child. It's good we saved the fair entry fees but many don't qualify. pic.twitter.com/3eYcm9BcVP

“Families who are living just above the poverty line have a lot of pressures on them economically, and travelling is expensive, and we need to get kids to school,” she said.
