Make Calgary Net-Zero
Victory!
Late last night, Calgary’s City Council voted 13-2 to declare a climate emergency and call to action. This motion included a clear direction to city administration to make Calgary a Net-Zero city by 2050.
Our city will now take concrete actions to take on climate change.
This has been a long journey: relying on advocates from across the city, hundreds of conversations over the summer months, and with leadership specifically coming from the incredible work of the Calgary Climate Hub.
Today is a day to celebrate. Tomorrow, and in the days to come, we will continue to advocate for a compassionate and just city, and work with city hall towards moving this declaration into action.
