Important Dates

• Now: Applications to Vote by Mail are open.
• September 1: Special Ballot packages begin being mailed.
• September 21: Packages become available through electoral division Returning Offices.
• September 25: Last day to request a Special Ballot.
• October 16 at 5:00 p.m.: Completed packages sent by mail must be received by Elections Alberta.
• October 19: Referendum Day. Voting locations are open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Faith Leaders Speak Out on the Referendum

In recent days, statements and letters from faith leaders across Alberta have brought important perspectives to the public conversation about the referendum.

Faith leaders from different religious communities have encouraged Albertans to consider the importance of human dignity, welcoming newcomers, protecting vulnerable people, and caring for one another.
